fermacell® damp-proof boards: Durable in high-humidity environments – indoors and outdoors
fermacell® Powerpanel H₂O are cement bonded lightweight concrete building boards with a sandwich structure and a surface reinforcement layer of alkali-resistant glass mesh on both sides. For interior use, they are designed for wall and ceiling structures subject to high levels of moisture; for exterior use, they can also be used – subject to appropriate approval – for curtain-wall, rear-ventilated façades and suspended ceilings. As a plaster base board, they form a robust, mineral-based substrate for wall structures subject to long-term stress, where construction, fixing and detailing are integrated within the respective system structure.
Durable fermacell® Powerpanel H₂O for robust wall constructions, both indoors and outdoors
The cement-bound fermacell® Powerpanel H₂O lightweight concrete panels, featuring a sandwich structure and a surface reinforcement layer of alkali-resistant glass mesh on both sides, are designed for wall and ceiling structures subject to stress designed – indoors particularly for areas with high humidity, outdoors for cladding exposed to the elements. As robust, moisture-resistant cladding, they are installed on suitable substructures made of wood, aluminium or metal. For outdoor use, they are designed as render-bearing panels in curtain-wall, rear-ventilated façades and as suspended ceilings with a weather-resistant coating. Long-term stability and dimensional stability contribute to the structure’s service life.
fermacell® Powerpanel H₂O is suitable for areas subject to high levels of moisture Interior wall and ceiling structures as well as for curtain wall systems and Exterior suspended ceilings.
Universal panels offering high load-bearing capacity, structural reinforcement and a stable surface; their surface density enhances sound insulation within the structure.
Non-combustible and classified as building material class A1 assigned; this allows fire safety concepts for buildings to be designed in a clear and predictable manner.
High mechanical strength and impact-resistant surfaces provide resilience against weather and wind exposure and support durable façade cladding.
High bending strength allows for flexible designs; it is fixed to the substructure using screws, nails or staples – depending on the installation.
Installation made easy – save time, ensure quality

FAQ
You can find clear answers to the most frequently asked questions in our FAQ section.
Sheet cut-outs can be made using a hand-held circular saw, a jigsaw (with a carbide-tipped blade) or a handsaw. Holes or round cut-outs can be made using a twist drill (steel drill bit) or a carbide-tipped hole saw (can drill).
fermacell® Powerpanel HD – Direct boarding on a timber stud frame in timber construction:
James Hardie offers the HD rendering system for fermacell® Powerpanel HD. Further information and installation instructions can be found in the document: "fermacell® and James Hardie in Timber Construction – Planning and Installation".
Our application video is also available to assist you with the installation of fermacell® Powerpanel HD boards. fermacell® Powerpanel HD cannot be used for ventilated facades. Further plastering recommendations are available on request.
fermacell® Powerpanel H₂O – Ventilated curtain wall:
fermacell® Powerpanel H₂O may only be coated using the systems specified in the approval; these can be found in the fermacell® Powerpanel H₂O Außen_Z31-4181. If you wish to use weather protection systems from other manufacturers, please contact us via the technical customer hotline. Other finishes, such as tiles or other plasters, cannot be used! Further installation instructions can be found in our manual: "fermacell® Powerpanel H₂O for external use".
The fermacell® Powerpanel H2O can be used on external curtain walls and suspended ceilings in accordance with general type approval Z-31.4-181. The panels require permanent weather protection in accordance with the aforementioned type approval.
Further details on installation can be found in the manual: fermacell™ Powerpanel H2O Outdoor use – planning and installation.
fermacell® Powerpanel HD boards are used for the external cladding of external walls in timber frame construction. Here, they serve as direct cladding for the timber studs and as stiffening panels, whilst simultaneously meeting fire safety requirements and providing weather protection (as a render base board).
In addition, our fermacell® gypsum fibreboards can also be used outdoors in areas classified as usage class 2, i.e. in outdoor areas not directly exposed to the elements.
The spacing of the fasteners is determined, among other things, by wind loads and must be calculated for each building by a structural engineer. Guidance on this can be found in the *fermacell® Powerpanel H₂O for External Applications – Design and Installation* manual.
Panels with right-angled edges are installed using the adhesive joint method.
